Butternut Squash with Carrot Puree

Root veggies make brilliant first foods for babies due to their naturally sweet flavour and smooth texture once pureed. Give this tasty Butternut Squash with Carrot Puree combo a try!

Ingredients

½ butternut squash
1 carrot
1 knob of unsalted butter or non-dairy alternative
2 tbsp of your baby's usual milk
2 tbsp baby rice (optional, to thicken)

Method

  1. Peel and chop the butternut squash and carrot.
  2. Steam for 15 to 20 minutes, or until tender.
  3. Puree with a knob of butter, milk and stir in the baby rice if needed to thicken.
